I have the occasional hobby of hollowing books, filling them with things and giving them to people; it’s a nice, relaxing AFK activity for when I want to listen to podcasts and keep my hands occupied. One time I took pictures of the process to share some pitfalls and techniques I’ve picked up or developed, in case you would like to try it sometime. Here they are!
My favorite book hollowing project so far is definitely my ipod case making. I found an old, small used book subtitled “a book of games and pleasant entertainments”, hollowed it out ipod size and left cutouts for the headphone plugin and charger plugin. Before I attached the covers, I hollowed out holes in the middle skinny parts from the back and put magnets in them (the magnets are still covered by a few layers of pages when the book is open) so you can easily close and open it. It’s been great at protecting my ipod and concealing it from being stolen, especially.
